Welcome to Taro's Wish. We curate designer archives, unique vintage, second-hand pieces from Europe and East Asia, and one-of-a-kind collaborations with independent designers.

By accessing this Website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and customers of Taro's Wish. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Website or complete a purchase.


1. Condition of Goods

1.1 Vintage / Pre-owned Items

1.1.1 Pre-Owned Nature. All items are sold as "second-hand," "vintage," or "pre-loved." The Customer acknowledges that these items are not in new, factory-sealed condition and may exhibit signs of wear, age, or previous ownership.

1.1.2 Due Diligence. It is the Customer's responsibility to conduct a thorough review of all photographs, condition ratings, and detailed flaw descriptions provided in the listing prior to purchase.

1.1.3 Condition Variance. While we strive for maximum transparency, items may possess minor, storage-related imperfections. Known defects will be explicitly stated. Furthermore, the Customer acknowledges that color representation may vary across different monitor settings and mobile screen calibrations; such variations do not constitute an item being "not as described."

1.2 The Alcove Collection: Artist Collaborations & Handmade Goods

1.2.1 Artisanal Nature. All items in the Alcove collection are handcrafted. The Customer is aware that minor artisanal traces, such as slight tool marks, textural variations, or subtle evidence of the hand-making process, are inherent to the creation of these pieces and are a natural result of the artistic process.

1.2.2 Unique 1:1 Items. Each Alcove item is produced as a 1:1 original. The Customer acknowledges that in the event of a restock, the new items may differ slightly from the original product photographs, as each piece is individually crafted.


2. Sizing & Accuracy

2.1 Manual Flat-Lay Measurements

We use the same measurement standards for both the Vintage and the Alcove Collection.

2.1.1 Measurements vs. Tags. Original size tags, where available, are provided for historical reference only. In cases where a tag is missing, illegible, or unconventional, an estimated fit will be provided via our Sizing Calculator. However, due to variations in era and brand, the manual flat-lay measurements (cm) in the product description remain the sole definitive guide for fit.

2.1.2 Flat-Lay Method. Each garment is measured flat and pulled taut to ensure accuracy. This includes key dimensions such as Pit-to-Pit (Width) and Total Length.

2.1.3 Customer Responsibility. It is the Customer's responsibility to compare our provided measurements with their own well-fitting garments before finalizing an order.

2.1.4 Fit-Related Returns. Any return due to an item "not fitting" will be handled as a "Change of Mind." In these cases, the Customer is responsible for all return shipping costs.

2.2 Condition & Disclosure Standards

Every item at Taro's Wish undergoes a careful manual inspection.

2.2.1 Definition of Flaws. For clarity, natural fading, sun-fading, minor pilling, and other age-related wear are categorized as "Flaws." Any marks or details documented in the photographs, ratings, or descriptions are considered "Disclosed Status." These conditions do not qualify as "item not as described" and are not eligible for returns.

2.2.2 Due Diligence & Inquiries. Customers are expected to review all high-resolution images and text carefully prior to purchase. If there are any uncertainties regarding condition or sizing, we invite you to contact us for a secondary inspection or additional media (photos/videos) before placing an order.

2.3 Significant Discrepancy & Resolution

To account for manual measurements and garment variations, we apply these standards:

2.3.1 Measurement Variance. A variance of up to 1–3cm is considered a standard industry margin due to fabric elasticity (e.g., knits, silk), garment cut, and manual flat-lay processes. This margin does not qualify as "item not as described."

2.3.2 Issue Resolution. If a significant error is verified (e.g., missed structural damage or a measurement error exceeding 3cm), we will offer one of the following resolutions at our discretion upon the successful return of the item:

  • Return for Store Credit: A shop balance for the item's value plus a small bonus toward your next purchase (our preferred sustainable solution).
  • Return for Refund: A full refund processed to your original payment method in accordance with applicable consumer laws.

2.3.3 Verification Requirements. To help us resolve your issue, please make sure your claim meets these requirements:

  • Timeframe: Any claims regarding condition or sizing must be submitted within 48 hours of delivery.
  • Security Tag: Our Security Tag must remain intact and attached. Removal or tampering with the tag signifies your final acceptance of the item. No claims will be honoured once the tag has been removed.
  • Documentation: Clear photo or video evidence is required. This must include shots of the issue with the Security Tag clearly visible in the frame. For measurement disputes, evidence must show the item on a flat surface with a standard measuring tape.

2.4 Footwear & Shoe Sizing

2.4.1 Sizing Reference. We provide shoe sizes based on the original markings (JP, UK, US) and convert them to EU sizing for consistency. In cases where the actual fit significantly deviates from the marked size (e.g., due to the narrow cut of vintage lasts), we will provide a "Recommended Fit" in the product description. It is the Customer's responsibility to prioritize our "Recommended Fit" and manual measurements over the original size tags.

2.4.2 Fit Variance. The Customer acknowledges that vintage and pre-owned footwear sizing varies significantly across eras and brands. Due to the nature of aged materials, natural leathers may shrink or stiffen over time, potentially resulting in a tighter fit than modern equivalents. Consequently, vintage items may fit smaller, larger, or narrower than contemporary high-street standards.

2.4.3 Insole Measurements. Due to the fixed nature of vintage insoles and the restrictive shape of certain styles (such as tall boots), we do not provide insole measurements by default as they are often technically inaccurate. Upon request, we may provide an approximate measurement; however, the Customer acknowledges that this is a non-binding estimate and does not guarantee a perfect fit.

2.4.4 Footwear Returns. While we accept returns for fit issues, the Customer is responsible for all return shipping costs. Please message us if you are unsure about your size.


3. Returns & Refunds

3.1 'Change of Mind' Returns

Taro's Wish specializes in unique vintage pieces. To support sustainable fashion and reduce the carbon footprint of logistics, we encourage mindful shopping. If you wish to return an item due to fit, color perception, or preference:

Shipping: The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs. We only accept tracked and insured services.

Fees:

  • UK orders: Original shipping fees are non-refundable.
  • International orders (including the US): Returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Original shipping charges, import duties, taxes, customs fees, and any UK import charges incurred upon re-entry are non-refundable and will be deducted from the refund where applicable.
    * US orders shipped under Delivered Duty Paid (DDP): The original import tax paid (10% of the item price plus a £0.50 handling fee) is non-refundable and will be deducted from the refund

Timeline: Returns must be dispatched within 14 days of the delivery date.

Condition: Items must be unworn, unwashed, in original packaging, and in the exact condition received.

3.2 The Security Tag Policy (Strictly Enforced)

Every item is shipped with a Taro's Wish Security Tag.

  • The Condition: Any return or refund request is only valid if this tag remains intact and uncut.
  • Final Acceptance: Removing or tampering with the tag signifies your final acceptance of the item. No exceptions will be made if the tag has been detached, as we can no longer verify the item's original state once the seal is broken.

3.3 Final Sale & Exclusions

For hygiene and safety reasons, the following are FINAL SALE and cannot be returned:

  • Socks & Hosiery
  • Intimate wear / Underwear
  • Earrings
  • Items explicitly marked as "Final Sale" in the description.

3.4 Significant Errors or Damaged Items

We take great pride in our accuracy. However, if an item is faulty or significantly not as described:

  • Statutory Rights: Under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, you are entitled to a refund or replacement if the item is not as described. You must notify us within 14 days of receipt.
  • Verification: The Security Tag must remain attached for all claims regarding "pre-existing damage" or "not as described." Removing the tag confirms you have inspected and accepted the item's condition.
  • How to Claim: Email ops@taros-wish.com with your order number and clear photo evidence. If the error is verified as ours, we will provide a full refund, including return shipping costs.

4. Rewards & Loyalty Program (Taro Points)

4.1 Eligibility & Enrollment

4.1.1 Membership. Available to registered account holders only. Taro Points are personal, non-transferable, and cannot be sold, shared, or combined with other accounts.

4.1.2 Earnings. 10 Taros for every £1 spent (excl. shipping/taxes). One-time bonuses: Signup (300 pts), Instagram Follow (200 pts).

4.1.3 Birthday Reward. 800 Taros. You must register your birthday at least 30 days in advance to receive points for that calendar year.

4.2 Redeeming Points

4.2.1 Threshold. A minimum of 500 Taros is required to begin redeeming.

4.2.2 Instant Cash Slider. Redeem 100 Taros for £1 off (Min. spend £45, Max discount £30 per order).

4.2.3 Fixed Vouchers. Customers can "Level Up" for better value (e.g., 7,000 pts = £80 voucher). Minimum spend requirements apply as stated in the Rewards Guide.

4.2.4 Exclusions. Taros/codes cannot be used on Final Sale items or combined with other promotions.

4.3 Taro's Trinkets (Physical Rewards)

4.3.1 Hitchhiker Policy. Trinkets are point-exclusive rewards that must be shipped with at least one other shop item.

4.3.2 Cancellation. Orders containing only a redeemed Trinket will be automatically cancelled.

4.3.3 Availability. Redeeming a code does not reserve the item; Trinkets are subject to stock at the time of checkout.

4.4 Expiration (1-Year Rolling Basis)

All Taros will expire after 365 days of inactivity (defined as no earning or redeeming of points). Any qualifying activity resets the expiry timer for your entire balance. We are not liable for points lost if you have unsubscribed from our email notifications.

4.5 Returns & Misuse

4.5.1 Refunds. Points earned from a returned purchase will be deducted. Points spent on a reward code used for a returned order are non-refundable.

4.5.2 Abuse. We reserve the right to void points for fraudulent activity (e.g., multiple accounts).


5. Order Acceptance & Contract

  • 5.1 Acknowledgement vs. Acceptance: The receipt of an order acknowledgement email does not constitute the legal acceptance of your order.
  • 5.2 Formation of Contract: A binding contract between Taro's Wish and the Customer is only formed when we send a formal dispatch confirmation email.
  • 5.3 Right to Cancel: We reserve the right to cancel any order prior to dispatch due to stock inaccuracies, pricing errors, or suspected fraudulent activity. In such cases, a full refund will be issued immediately.

6. Shipping & Customs

6.1 Dispatch & Delivery

6.1.1 Processing Time. 2–3 business days (Mon–Fri, excl. holidays).

6.1.2 Address Accuracy. You are responsible for providing a complete and correct address. Any redelivery costs due to incorrect or incomplete information (e.g., missing house numbers) will be charged to the Customer.

6.1.3 PO Boxes. We deliver to PO Boxes; please ensure this is clearly noted at checkout.

6.1.4 Failed Deliveries. If a parcel is returned to us due to an incorrect or incomplete address, failure to collect from a pickup point, or refusal to accept delivery, a 15% restocking fee will be deducted from the refund and the original shipping fee is non-refundable. Any return shipping charges or carrier surcharges will also be deducted from the final refund balance. For customs-related refusals, see 6.3.3.

6.2 Risk & Insurance

6.2.1 Transfer of Risk. Risk of loss passes to the buyer once the item is handed to the carrier. We are not responsible for packages that are lost or stolen after being marked as "Delivered" by the tracking service.

6.2.2 Insurance & Claims. Standard shipping covers up to £50 (International) or £75 (UK). For high-value orders, please contact ops@taros-wish.com to purchase full insurance prior to checkout.

6.2.3 Liability Cap. While we will assist with carrier claims, our liability for lost parcels is strictly limited to the compensation recovered from the carrier.

6.3 Customs, Duties & Taxes

6.3.1 USA Orders (DDP). We offer a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) experience for our U.S. customers, meaning all import duties and taxes are already included in the price you pay. No additional fees are required upon delivery.

6.3.2 Other International Orders. The Customer is responsible for all local VAT, import duties, and customs clearance fees. These charges are determined by your local customs authority.

6.3.3 Refused Shipments. If a package is returned because the Customer refuses to pay local customs fees:

  • The original shipping fee is non-refundable.
  • A 20% restocking fee will be deducted from the refund to cover processing and handling.
  • Any return shipping charges or carrier surcharges (if applied) will be deducted from the final refund balance.

6.4 First-Time Order Security

To protect our customers and prevent fraud, first-time orders must be shipped to the Cardholder's Billing Address or a verified business address. Orders with mismatched billing and shipping information may be subject to additional verification, delay, or cancellation.


7. Intellectual Property & Brand Rights

7.1 Brand Disclaimer & Partnerships

7.1.1 Independent Reseller. Taro's Wish is an independent platform specializing in curated pre-loved, vintage, and designer pieces. We are not authorized, affiliated, or officially connected with the third-party brands sold on this website.

7.1.2 Alcove Collections. Our Alcove series features official collaborations with independent handmade brands and artists. For these specific collections, Taro's Wish acts as an authorized retail partner.

7.2 Content & Photography

7.2.1 Original Ownership. All photography, videos, and descriptions created by Taro's Wish are our exclusive property.

7.2.2 Collaborative Rights. For the Alcove series, the intellectual property of the product designs remains with the respective artists/brands. However, the promotional media (photos/videos) captured by Taro's Wish remains our property unless otherwise agreed.

7.2.3 Editorial Imagery. We may use limited archival or runway imagery for historical context; copyright remains with the original creators.

7.3 Usage & Permissions

7.3.1 Strictly No Commercial Use. Unauthorized use of our media for commercial purposes is prohibited.

7.3.2 Social Sharing. Sharing is encouraged but must include a clear credit to @taroswish.

7.4 Resale Permissions (Private Use Only)

7.4.1 Private Resale. Customers who purchased an item may reuse our photos for private resale (e.g., on second-hand apps) only after obtaining written permission from us.

7.4.2 Credit Requirement. You must state "Purchased from @taroswish" in your listing.

7.4.3 Exclusion. Professional resellers and other boutiques are strictly prohibited from using our imagery.


8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 Disclaimer. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Taro's Wish shall not be liable for any indirect or incidental damages. This does not affect your statutory consumer rights or our liability which cannot be excluded by law.

8.2 Liability Cap. Our maximum liability to you for any order shall be limited strictly to the total purchase price of the items paid in that specific transaction.


9. Prohibited Uses

You are prohibited from using the site or its content: (a) for any unlawful purpose; (b) to solicit others to perform unlawful acts; (c) to upload or transmit viruses or any other type of malicious code; (d) to scrape or collect the content or personal information of others.


10. Governing Law

These Terms of Service and any separate agreements whereby we provide you Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.


11. Changes to Terms of Service

You can review the most current version of the Terms of Service at any time at this page. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Terms of Service by posting updates and changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check our website periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to our website or the Service following the posting of any changes to these Terms of Service constitutes acceptance of those changes.
